In 1910, as Halley’s Comet approached Earth, an astronomer warned that the comet’s tail might contain poisonous gases. Word spread quickly. People gathered outside, staring fearfully at the glowing comet in the sky.The fear explodes into full-blown panic. Streets fill with anxious families covering their faces with cloth and handkerchiefs.
Sensing opportunity in the chaos, crooked businessmen arrive to make money off people’s fear.
